Get to Know Angela LaGrange Scott, '89

For Angela LaGrange Scott, returning to the Schools of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau is both a professional milestone and a deeply personal homecoming.  As a graduate of the Academy of the Sacred Heart, she knows firsthand the transformative power of a Sacred Heart education.  The values, relationships, and sense of purpose she discovered a a student have shaped every chapter of her life and career, making her return to the lead the school community especially meaningful.

Angela has devoted her professional life to helping educational communities flourish through thoughftul leadership, strategic vision, and a steadfast commitment to mission.

 

She believes that schools are places where young people are not only challenged academically, but also formed spiritually, inspired to lead with courage and compassion, and called to use their gifts in service of others.

Before returning to Grand Coteau, Angela spent nearly two decades at The Regis School of the Sacred Heart in Houston, where she served in a multitude of leadership roles that reflected both the breadth of her talents and her commitment to Catholic education.  From teaching middle school science and leading innovative STEM initiatives to overseeing enrollment systems, communications, advancement, alumni engagement, mission integration, and institutional operations, she became known as a collaborative leader who brings people together around a shared vision.  She has a gift for building systems that support excellence while never losing sight of the relationships that define a thriving school community.

Her love for Sacred Heart extends beyond any one campus.  Angela has served the Network of Sacred Heart schools in numerous leadership roles, including as a member and chair of visiting teams for the Sacred Heart Commission on Goals (SHCOG), where she has accompanied schools in their ongoing commitment to the Goals and Criteria. She previously served on the Board of Trustees for the Schools of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau. As Co-Chair of the Associates of the Society of the Sacred Heart, United States-Canada Province, she helped strengthen connections among Associate communities across the province while fostering opportunities for prayer, formation, and service.

Angela holds a Graduate Certificate in Catholic School Leadership from Creighton University, as well as a Specialist Certificate in Science Education, a Master of Education, and a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Louisiana State University. She is a graduate of the inaugural Sacred Heart Aspiring Leader Cohort, an experience that deepened both her understanding of Sacred Heart leadership and her commitment to serving the mission for years to come.

 

Angela and her husband, Erik, are the proud parents of their son, Mark, a member of The Regis School of the Sacred Heart's Class of 2018. Experiencing Sacred Heart education as both a student and a parent has deepened Angela's conviction in the transformative power of Catholic, independent, single-gender education. The values and language of the Sacred Heart Goals and Criteria have long been woven into their family life, often shaping conversations around the dinner table.

Today, Angela and Erik are grateful to have returned home to Acadiana and to the place where Angela's own Sacred Heart journey began. She is honored to serve the Schools of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau and to build upon its rich legacy, partnering with students, families, faculty, alumni, and friends to lead the community into its next chapter with faith, hope, and confidence.
